Premier League club-by-club transfer latest: July 7

With the summer transfer window having been open for a week now, the rumour mill where Premier League clubs are concerned has gone into overdrive.

Here, Sports Mole has looked over all the speculation and done deals from England's top flight over the last seven days.

Arsenal

Arsene Wenger's pursuit of a replacement for Bacary Sagna could be about to end in the form of Mathieu Debuchy, who has confirmed that he is in talks to join Arsenal from his current employers Newcastle United.

The French international could be joined at the Emirates Stadium by German midfielder Lars Bender, while moves for Morgan Schneiderlin and Real Madrid's holding midfielder Sami Khedira have also been mooted.

Aston Villa

While there has not been too much speculation in the way of incomings at Villa Park, Paul Lambert has been busy ensuring that he does not lose any players. Youngsters Gary Gardner and Callum Robinson have both signed new contracts, while Lambert has insisted that Ron Vlaar and Fabian Delph are not for sale.

One player that has been linked with a return to Villa is Ashley Young, who is reportedly surplus to requirements at Manchester United. The winger left the Midlanders for Old Trafford in the summer of 2011.

Burnley

After a few weeks of very little business being done, newly-promoted Burnley have been active in recent days. Manager Sean Dyche has added Bolton Wanderers striker Marvin Sordell to his squad, as well as former West Ham United midfielder Matt Taylor.

Goalkeeper Matt Gilks has also been recruited, while veteran defender Michael Duff has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract.

Chelsea

There had previously been no official confirmation from either club, but Chelsea revealed last week that they had reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign last season's leading goalscorer Diego Costa. The striker will sign on at Stamford Bridge subject to passing a medical and personal terms being agreed.

Further rumours have suggested that Costa's Atletico teammates Filipe Luis and Tiago could soon join the Spanish centre-forward in West London.

Crystal Palace

It's been a relatively quiet summer so far at Selhurst Park, but that could soon be about to change. Reports on Sunday have claimed that manager Tony Pulis is keen to sign Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who scored six goals last term.

Cardiff City defender Steven Caulker is also believed to be a target. It's thought that the England centre-back has a release clause in his contract at the Cardiff City Stadium worth in the region of £8m.

Everton

Everton fans will have braced themselves at the weekend following a report that Manchester City are preparing a bid for teenager Ross Barkley. Another youngster, John Stones, is also said to have been the subject of an offer from Tottenham Hotspur.

There could also be further bad news for the Toffees, with West Ham United said to be interested in Gareth Barry. The former England international spent last season on loan at Goodison Park and had been tipped to sign a permanent deal, but that move appears to have stalled.

Hull City

It appears that Steve Bruce is eager to bolster his wide options ahead of the start of the new season. Robert Snodgrass has been recruited from Norwich City for a reported £7m, while Tom Ince has held discussions over a switch to the KC Stadium.

It's also been suggested that talks have taken place with Doncaster Rovers regarding the availability of James Husband. The 20-year-old is said to be keen to swap League One for the Premier League.

Leicester City

The major news for Leicester last week was that captain Wes Morgan has agreed a fresh three-year contract at the King Power Stadium. The centre-back had 12 months to run under the terms of his previous deal, but he is now tied to the club until 2017.

If reports are to be believed, he could soon be joined by Connor Wickham. It's been claimed that the England Under-21 international, who plays for Sunderland, is one of manager Nigel Pearson's main targets.

Liverpool

With Luis Suarez thought to be on the verge of signing on the dotted line at Barcelona, Brendan Rodgers's search for the Uruguayan's replacement is underway. There could be two strikers coming in, with both Divock Origi and Lazar Markovic said to be closing in on moves to Anfield.

Southampton centre-back Dejan Lovren has also expressed his desire to move to Merseyside, which could pave the way for Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel to link up with Turkish outfit Galatasaray.

Manchester City

Manager Manuel Pellegrini is expected to clear the decks at the Etihad Stadium, with the likes of Jack Rodwell, Micah Richards and Scott Sinclair all believed to be available for permanent transfer.

However, a surprise exit could come in Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo. The 28-year-old only arrived in Manchester last summer from Sevilla, but it's been reported that he is seeking a return to his homeland, with Atletico Madrid said to be in the running for his signature.

Manchester United

With two players already recruited, Louis van Gaal is believed to be determined to add further players to his United squad before the new season gets underway. Juventus' Arturo Vidal is his main target, according to numerous reports, but the Italian club are thought to want at least £45m for the Chilean midfielder.

There is bound to be exits as well, with Belgian international Marouane Fellaini said to be at the head of the queue. Among the clubs said to be interested in the midfielder are Fiorentina, while Newcastle United are believed to be tracking Wilfried Zaha.

Newcastle United

The last few transfer windows have been relatively bleak for Newcastle supporters, but there was reason for optimism last week with a big-money arrival. It's been claimed that the Magpies parted with £11m to sign Ajax captain Siem de Jong on a six-year contract.

With Mathieu Debuchy close to joining Arsenal, Newcastle boss Alan Pardew will also need a new right-back. There have been strong rumours of late that Man City's Richards is his number one target to fill the void, while Dutch international Daryl Janmaat's name has also been mentioned.

Queens Park Rangers

It was anticipated that free agent Rio Ferdinand would have already been confirmed as a QPR player by now, but the story took a twist last week. It's been reported that members of the board at Loftus Road believe that at 35, manager Harry Redknapp should be looking to sign younger players.

In contrast, Redknapp has insisted that the deal is close to being finalised, while a move for Steven Caulker is also said to be under consideration. What's more, both Armand Traore and Alejandro Faurlin have signed new contracts.

Southampton

The squad at the St Mary's Stadium is starting to unravel at the seams. Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw have already departed and it would appear that centre-back Dejan Lovren and midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin are also determined to jump ship.

With key players heading for the exit door, they will need replacing. Among those linked with a switch to the St Mary's Stadium is Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall and Colombian defender Pablo Armero.

Stoke City

In terms of transfers, Stoke manager Mark Hughes is playing his cards extremely close to his chest. When pressed recently for an update, the club's chief executive Tony Scholes would only reveal that one or two players have been targeted.

One of those players may well be former Arsenal centre-forward Eduardo, while free agent Tom Ince is also thought to be under consideration by Hughes.

Sunderland

Black Cats manager Gus Poyet has already bolstered his squad with three free transfers, but he could soon be about to spend some cash. A report last week suggested that Poyet had made both Marcos Alonso and Jordan Mutch his major targets, with the deals potentially concluded over the coming days.

One player that is unlikely to return to the Stadium of Light, though, is Fabio Borini. The Italian striker was on loan at Sunderland last season, but has since expressed his desire to prove his worth at Liverpool.

Swansea City

Following a large amount of speculation regarding his future at the Liberty Stadium, skipper Ashley Williams has given Swansea a boost by signing a new contract. The centre-back had been strongly linked with a switch to Sunderland. The defender was later joined by Kyle Bartley, who also agreed to extended terms with the Welsh outfit.

Head coach Garry Monk has also made a couple of additions to his squad over recent days, with Marvin Emnes and young defender Stephen Kingsley signing on.

Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino is yet to add to his squad since arriving at White Hart Lane, but that is not for the want of trying. A bid for Everton defender John Stones is said to have been rejected, while Swansea are showing resistance in Tottenham's pursuit of Ben Davies.

There has been some reason to be cheerful, though, courtesy of French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Reports had claimed that he was a target of clubs in his homeland, but the 27-year-old has revealed that he expects to be a Spurs player next term.

West Bromwich Albion

Alan Irvine has wasted little time in getting his feet under the table at The Hawthorns. First Joleon Lescott arrived at the club and he has now been followed by Northern Ireland international Chris Baird on a free transfer.

There could be further signings as well, with full-back Alan Hutton and Reading winger Garath McCleary thought to be targets. There have also been strong links with Burkina Faso international Prejuce Nakoulma, who is out of contract with Polish club Gornik Zabrze.

West Ham United

Sam Allardyce has promised West Ham fans an exciting brand of football and it appears that he is trying to deliver on that. 'Big Sam' has secured the services of left-back Aaron Cresswell on a five-year contract from Championship outfit Ipswich Town.

He could be joined at Upton Park by Diego Poyet, who is a free agent following his release by Charlton Athletic. There is also believed to have been an ambitious approach made for France international Mathieu Valbuena.
