Report: Everton turn down Tottenham Hotspur's bid for John Stones

Everton reportedly reject a bid from Tottenham Hotspur for defender John Stones.

Everton have reportedly rejected an offer from Tottenham Hotspur for young defender John Stones.

New Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino appears to be focusing on improving his team's defensive qualities following reports that they are interested in Swansea City's Ben Davies.

According to The Express, Spurs have lodged a bid for the 20-year-old, but they have been knocked back by Everton as they aim to keep hold of him.

Stones, who impressed as Phil Jagielka's deputy last season, moved to Goodison Park from Barnsley last year for a fee in the region of £3m.

It is unclear whether Tottenham will return with a fresh offer.
