Wilfried Zaha has revealed that he has the confidence of manager Louis van Gaal as he looks to kick-start his Manchester United career this season.
The 21-year-old endured a largely anonymous first season with the Red Devils, making just two Premier League appearances under David Moyes before being loaned to Cardiff City in January.
Zaha understands that competition for places is fierce at Old Trafford, but the young winger says that he has the backing of the Dutchman to prove his mettle.
"At Manchester United there are quality players and if you get your chance, you have to take it," he told The Telegraph. "And any chance I get I will try and make the most of it.
"Louis van Gaal has let me know that he believes in me. I can't tell what's going to happen with the club in the future, but we have a great manager and I'm sure he will change things here."
The former Crystal Palace ace was handed his first game-time of pre-season thus far by playing 45 minutes in Wednesday's 0-0 draw with Inter Milan.
