Darren Fletcher keen to make up for lost time

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher says that he is determined to bounce back to his best form after being sidelined for lengthy periods with illness.

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has revealed that he is determined to bounce back to his best form after being sidelined for lengthy periods with illness.

The Scotland international has started just nine Premier League fixtures for United in the last two seasons following a battle with ulcerative colitis.

However, the 30-year-old has slowly but surely earned a passage back into the Red Devils' matchday squad in recent months, and Fletcher reveals an ambition to remain there.

"I feel like I'm making up for lost time, to be honest," he told Inside United, the club's official magazine.

"I always cherished the position I was in and people were saying: 'You should just be happy to be back.' But I never wanted to get in that mindset because I think it's a dangerous mindset to get into, where you just accept a level.

"So I see that I've got a lot of lost time to make up for. I want to try and put those two years on at the end of my career."

Fletcher started last week's 2-2 draw with Fulham at Old Trafford.
