Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes becomes the fastest midfielder in Premier League history to reach 50 goal contributions with his assist against Everton on Saturday.

Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes broke a Premier League record with his assist for Anthony Martial's strike against Everton on Saturday.

With 43 minutes of the Premier League encounter gone at Old Trafford, Fernandes laid the ball on a plate for Martial to smash home the opener - his first assist of the new Premier League season.

The tie ultimately ended in disappointment for the Red Devils as they were pegged back by an Andros Townsend equaliser, but Fernandes earned another slice of history on the day.

The Portuguese playmaker's assist for Martial's strike represented his 50th goal contribution in the Premier League from 58 games, seeing him become the fastest midfielder in the competition's history to hit that milestone.

Fernandes ranks fourth on the all-time list of players in that category, with Andy Cole hitting that milestone in 43 games while Eric Cantona and Alan Shearer took just 54 matches to do so.

The ex-Sporting Lisbon man now boasts a total of 44 goals and 28 assists from 90 games in a Man United shirt, including seven contributions from 10 games in all competitions this term.
