Sam Allardyce believes that David Moyes is the "perfect" candidate to take Manchester United forward following Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce believes that David Moyes is the "perfect" man to take the reins from Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

The Scotsman will leave Everton for Old Trafford on July 1 after agreeing a six-year contract a day after Ferguson announced plans to step down from the club following a 26-year tenure.

"David Moyes is the perfect candidate for Manchester United," Allardyce said on West Ham's official Twitter page. "He'll face the challenge head on. It's one of the biggest jobs in club football."

Moyes will take on the United role following 11 years at Everton, where he failed to clinch a piece of silverware, but turned the club into a top-six side with limited resources.
