Raheem Sterling to "take things slowly" at Manchester City

Raheem Sterling says that he hopes to bring plenty of success to new club Manchester City by keeping his feet firmly on the ground, following a high-profile switch from Liverpool.

Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling has admitted that he intends to "take things slowly" at the club after joining from Liverpool.

The £49m signing found the net twice in the Citizens' 8-1 rout of Vietnam this afternoon to add to his debut strike against Roma.

Despite impressing in the early stages of his City career, Sterling plans to keep his feet firmly on the ground ahead of tougher tests to come.

"My aim is just to take things slowly, do my best playing for Manchester City Football Club and hopefully that will bring me success," he told City's official website.

Asked about pre-season to date, the Englishman added: "The most impressive thing was the people here [in Vietnam] – they're really welcoming, they love football and to be welcomed in the way we were was really heart-warming. I'm really happy to be here and hope I can come back again soon."

Sterling is likely to make his competitive debut for Man City in their opening Premier League fixture against West Bromwich Albion on August 8.
