Wolfsburg confident of Kevin de Bruyne stay

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs says that he has not received any offers for midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, amid speculation linking him with Manchester City.

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has revealed that they have not received any offers for midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

The Belgian international has been linked with a move to Manchester City, with Sky Blues football director Txiki Begiristain said to have met with the player's representatives twice this year.

However, Allofs is confident that De Bruyne will remain with the Bundesliga side for the time being.

"The situation is unchanged. So it's the latest one but we don't want to sell him. As everybody knows he has a contract until 2019. We have not had serious offers, written offers but I know that there are some clubs are interested, this is not a secret," he told Sky Sports News.

"He's happy with us, I think he made the right choice when he came to Wolfsburg and he was not so happy with Chelsea, he was not a titular player, and he made the right step for him, and it was also the right step for Wolfsburg and now he is happy.

"And we know we were not going to keep him until 2019, and even not until 2018 but he's played just one-and-a-half years with us and so I think even if he stays, and this is very probably the case, he will be happy."

De Bruyne joined Wolfsburg from Chelsea for £18m in January 2014.
