Brendan Rodgers: 'Liverpool don't want to sell Luis Suarez'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says that the club do not want to enter into discussions with other teams over the transfer of Luis Suarez.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has reiterated that the club have no intention of selling Luis Suarez this summer.

The Uruguayan striker's future has been the subject of intense speculation following the player's admission that he wants to leave the club after citing incessant press attention.

Suarez, who scored 30 goals for the Reds last season, has been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Chelsea and had a £30m bid from Arsenal rejected for him earlier this week.

Despite the interest, Rodgers has once again stated that the club do not wish to enter into discussions with any other team over Suarez's future.

"He has got three years left on his contract, we don't want to sell him," Rodgers told talkSPORT. "We are in constant communication and we hope everything will be fine for the summer.

"Over the course of the last few months and towards the end of the season there has been a lot of speculation with Luis. But the fact is it remains the same - we value the player. He had a terrific season for us last year and showed his qualities.

"Since then I've been in communication with him through texts and conversations on the phone and [the situation] is pretty much the same. He is a valued player. He is an absolute magician on the field."

Suarez is currently four games into a 10-match suspension for biting Chelsea's Branislav Invanovic during their 2-2 draw at Anfield in April.
