Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says that most clubs depend on a "standout" player like Luis Suarez.

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed that he is unconcerned by claims that the Reds depend on striker Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan international has netted eight of the Merseyside outfit's 14 Premier League goals so far this season and is the club's only recognised striker in the first team following Fabio Borini's injury blow.

"People say that we are dependent on Suarez, but listen, Messi at Barcelona. Ronaldo at Real Madrid," the Liverpool Daily Post quotes Carragher as saying.

"Don't get me wrong, Manchester United have had a lot of goalscorers from different positions. But every team will have a standout player, and Luis is one of them, not just in the Premier League but in the world."

Liverpool currently sit 13th in the league table.
