Ross McCormack: 'I never asked to leave Leeds United'

Ross McCormack insists that he never requested to leave Leeds United in the January transfer window.

Ross McCormack has insisted that he never asked to leave Leeds United during the uncertainty that surrounded the club on transfer deadline day in January.

The forward was eager to back Brian McDermott, who was reportedly relieved of his duties before being given control of the first team once again, and the Scot hinted that he may have left the club if the manager was forced out.

"It was surreal, a crazy day from start to finish," McCormack told the Daily Record. "I don't regret it. I spoke my mind.

"Despite what some people think, I never asked to leave. I'd just been made captain of Leeds which in my eyes is a big, big deal.

"I was just a bit baffled by what was going on. It was just silly. There were six of the boys in Noel Hunt's house and none of us could believe what was happening."

McCormack has scored 24 goals for Leeds this season.
