Cesare Prandelli: 'No Francesco Totti return'

Cesare Prandelli says that there is no chance of Francesco Totti coming out of retirement to play for the Italian national side.

Italy head coach Cesare Prandelli has dismissed rumours that Francesco Totti could come out of international retirement.

The 37-year-old has not featured for his country since the 2006 World Cup final in Germany, but recent reports had suggested that he would be prepared to end his exile to play in next year's tournament in Brazil.

"He is a great talent, but time does not stand still for anyone," he told reporters.

"Either way, let's not talk about a Totti return. Last time we did that, it didn't end well for him as he picked up an injury.

"Let's not forget that he was the one who made the decision to retire from international football."

Totti has featured on 58 occasions for the Azzurri and has scored nine goals.
