Result: Hull City 2-1 Cardiff City

Nicky Barmby scores the winner within a minute of coming on as a substitute to give Hull victory over Cardiff.

Hull moved into the playoffs by edging past Cardiff 2-1 at the KC Stadium this afternoon.

Matty Fryatt gave the home side the lead after 37 minutes, finding the net from six yards after exchanging passes with Martin Pusic.

Cardiff were level 15 minutes into the second half when league debutant Joe Ralls volleyed home.

Veteran Nicky Barmby secured all three points for Hull a minute after coming on as a substitute.

The 37-year-old sneaked in at the back post to turn home Robbie Brady's cross from a tight angle.

The Tigers move up to sixth and next travel to Brighton after the upcoming international break while Cardiff, who drop two places to eighth, host Ipswich in two weeks' time.
