Matty Fryatt struck late in the second half to hand Hull City a single goal victory away at Ipswich Town.
Neither side was able to find the net during the opening half at Portman Road and the game looked to be heading for a stalemate until Fryatt's 76th minute intervention.
Midfielder Paul McKenna was the provider, finding former Leicester City striker Fryatt inside the area before the 25-year-old guided the ball to the bottom left-hand corner of the net.
Next up for Paul Jewell's Ipswich is a home match against Southampton while Hull face an away trip to Leeds United. Both fixtures will be played on Tuesday, August 16.
