Wayne Rooney to finalise Major League Soccer switch on Thursday?

A report claims that Wayne Rooney's switch from Everton to Major League Soccer side DC United will be completed before the end of Thursday.

Everton attacker Wayne Rooney will officially become a DC United player by the end of Thursday, according to a report.

The 32-year-old is said to be due to arrive in Washington later today to complete the formalities, ending his 16-year stay in the Premier League.

Sky Sports News claims that the ex-England international will sign a three-and-a-half year contract, potentially seeing him through to the end of his playing career.

Rooney already has a visa and work permit and could begin training with his new teammates later this week, but he cannot make his debut until after the MLS transfer window opens on July 10.

DC United are expected to hold a press conference next Monday to unveil marquee signing Rooney.
