Wayne Rooney is reportedly edging closer to signing for MLS side DC United on a two-year deal.

Wayne Rooney is reportedly close to finalising a transfer from Everton to MLS side DC United.

The 32-year-old re-signed for his boyhood club last year on a free transfer, but he has not nailed down a starting spot in the squad.

New manager Marco Silva is expected to let the former England captain leave this summer, and Sky Sports News believes that a deal has edged closer for Rooney to move to America.

The report adds that Rooney will sign a two-year, £3.8m-a-year deal with the club.

The former Manchester United striker scored 208 goals in his 16-year stint in the Premier League.
