Ian Holloway: "It's obvious" we need to buy

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway feels that it is patently "obvious" that he needs to improve his squad before the end of the transfer window.

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway believes that it is "obvious" his team need strengthening before the end of the transfer window.

Palace were knocked out of the League Cup on Tuesday evening when they were beaten 2-1 away to Bristol City.

Holloway is looking to add to his squad before the transfer window closes on September 2 and feels that it is abundantly clear that he needs to improve his team.

"It is obvious isn't it? We need some widemen and we need to address the goals and that is what we'll be doing," Holloway told Sky Sports News.

"The main thing for me is that we've lost two of our main players who were really important for us last year in Glenn Murray with his injury and Wilf (Wilfried Zaha).

"I can't tell you how many [I'll sign], it will be quite a few. I've got loads of plates spinning but it is so hard to get deals over the line these days, even in the Premier League. The closer it gets to that window the prices go up."

Holloway recently called for the transfer window to be abolished.
