Chelsea captain John Terry believes that he can play against Wigan Athletic this weekend, despite suffering from cracked ribs.

Chelsea captain John Terry has not ruled himself out of this weekend's match at Wigan Athletic, despite suffering with cracked ribs.

The Blues confirmed that the defender had picked up the injury following Wednesday night's Champions League quarter-final victory against Benfica.

Despite the unlikelihood of Terry being passed fit for Saturday, he believes that he could yet make the game at the DW Stadium.

"I don't think it will mean I'm out at all," he told reporters. "It's just a case of managing it, and things like that. I know there are ways around it.

"With the ribs you can't really do anything - you can't treat the injury or massage it to make it better. You just have to let it heal, but I can get through games, definitely. The guys have got a few ideas to get me through them."

Chelsea will face Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League after their win over Benfica.
