Rafael Benitez expresses an interest in becoming manager of Spain if and when the job is made available.

Chelsea's interim manager Rafael Benitez has admitted that he would strongly consider taking charge of the Spanish national team in the future.

La Roja are currently coached by Vicente del Bosque, who has recently guided the European nation to success in both the World Cup and European Championships.

However, should the 62-year-old opt to stand down from the position, Benitez has confessed that he would like to be considered for the role.

"I don't rule out becoming the Spain coach, if and when Vicente decides to leave," he is quoted as saying by Radio Gaceta de los Deportes. "It's something I would envision for further down the line, although to achieve that I have to continue in elite football and keep on doing well."

Recent reports have claimed that Benitez will not be kept on by Chelsea after the current season has ended.
