Bournemouth's Marc Pugh: 'We were punished for not taking our chances'

Bournemouth's Marc Pugh says that the team cannot afford to miss their chances in Premier League games.

Bournemouth's Marc Pugh has admitted that he and his teammates cannot afford to miss their chances in the Premier League.

The newly-promoted side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on the opening day of the season on Saturday.

Pugh, along with Callum Wilson and Dan Gosling, had opportunities to break the deadlock when it was goalless at the Vitality Stadium, but it was not to be.

"In this division you get punished if you don't take your chances and it cost us the game in the end," Pugh told the Daily Echo.

"We weren't clinical enough."

The Cherries' next game is away at Anfield to face Liverpool next Monday.
