Borussia Dortmund have reportedly agreed in principle to sell Robert Lewandowski to Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski, 24, has one year remaining on his current contract, and Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke stated last week that he expected the Polish forward to honour the deal.

However, it appears that Watzke has now accepted defeat in his quest to keep his prized asset at the Westfalenstadion this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Dortmund are prepared to accept a bid of £21.1m from Bayern, providing that it is formally lodged by next Wednesday.

Manchester United have also been monitoring Lewandowski's situation in recent weeks, but it is understood that the player would prefer to stay in Germany.
