Captain Nemanja Vidic says that Manchester United can learn from the displays that Germans clubs have produced in the Champions League.

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has conceded that he has been impressed by the performances of the German clubs in the Champions League this season.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will contest the final of the competition at Wembley later this month, while Schalke 04 also reached the quarter-finals.

With his side having exited the tournament to Real Madrid at the first knockout stage, Vidic has admitted that there are a few things that United could learn from their German counterparts.

"Credit to Bayern - I think they play very good football. They play as a team and they closed down the Barcelona players very quickly, going in groups. It's hard to play against these kind of teams. Dortmund played against Madrid in a similar way to show this is the tendency in Germany football," the Serbian defender told MUTV.

"I think it's something we should look at. Maybe this is the way other teams have to improve. Over a few years, people were watching Barcelona and saying this is how you should play. If you look at Dortmund and Bayern now, you see that they work as a team and individuals and this is why they are having success."

United last won the Champions League in 2008.
