Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts insists that there is still work to be done before racism is stamped out of English football.

Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts has insisted that there is still some work to be done before racism is eradicated from English football.

The issue has been brought up in recent days after allegations were made against England captain John Terry and Liverpool frontman Luis Suarez.

Roberts, 33, has revealed that he has been the subject of racist abuse during his playing career.

"Is it something that used to happen all the time? Absolutely," said Roberts. "In my 14-year career, I've had it numerous times. More times than I can count.

"It has certainly slowed down recently but the battle isn't won. People still need educating.

"There was an element that that's just the way it is but I would like to think we've moved on from that."

Roberts has been at Blackburn since 2006.
