Lukasz Fabianski can become the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, according to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that back-up goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski can become the best stopper in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old spent last season as second fiddle to Gunners number one and fellow Pole Wojciech Sczcesny and missed out on a place in the Poland Euro 2012 squad.

Fabianski has previously expressed his desire to leave the Emirates in search of regular first-team football, but Wenger insists that if he stays with Arsenal, he can become the Premier League's best goalkeeper.

"Let me surprise you: Lukasz Fabianski could become the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, even better than Wojciech Szczesny," said Wenger.

"He has incredible skills and dynamics. His problem is psychological – he relives his every mistake or moment not playing. I was hoping that the Euro 2012 Championships might help him; his injury is a great misfortune."

Fabianski was initially named in Poland's 26-man preliminary squad for the European Championships but had to pull out after injuring his shoulder in a training session.
