Di Matteo not seeking permanent Chelsea job

Roberto Di Matteo says that he is not positioning himself to become Chelsea's full-time manager once the season is over.

Roberto Di Matteo has said that he is not positioning himself to become Chelsea's full-time manager once the season is over.

The Italian took charge at Stamford Bridge following Andre Villas-Boas's departure at the beginning of the month.

Despite leading the Blues to victory in his first four games, Di Matteo is said that he is concentrating solely on securing fourth spot.

"I'm quite happy to be interim head coach until the end of the season," said Di Matteo. "I'm just pleased to get these players to perform at the level they can and that's all I'm trying to do.

"I don't want to mull over the past, this is a fresh start for us and I'm looking at these four games that we've played and now I'm looking forward to the next one we have to play [against Manchester City], which is another very difficult one, that's all.

"It's is crucial for us to finish in fourth spot for next season."

Chelsea currently sit fifth in the Premier League, three points behind Arsenal.
