Paris Saint-Germain brush Shakhtar Donetsk aside

Goals from Serge Aurier and David Luiz, as well as a Dario Srna own goal, give Paris Saint-Germain a 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in Lviv.

Goals from Serge Aurier and David Luiz, and a late Dario Srna own goal, secured a 3-0 win for Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk in Lviv this evening.

Laurent Blanc's side - who beat Malmo 2-0 in their opening fixture - were ahead inside the opening seven minutes when Aurier headed home Maxwell's cross from the left.

It was the first Champions League goal for the Ivorian defender, who was only in the side as a replacement for the injured Gregory van der Wiel.

The home side threatened only occasionally in the opening exchanges, most notably when midfielder Fred crashed an effort wide of goal.

The Ukrainians then found themselves two behind when Luiz was on hand to profit from some careless defending, bundling home Angel di Maria's cross from close range.

Maxwell's long ball forward then caught the home defence out, sending Di Maria through on goal, but with only Andriy Pyatov to beat, the Argentine winger chipped the ball wide of goal.

Mircea Lucescu's side could have pulled one back just before the break when Taison's ball almost teed up Maksym Malyshev, but Kevin Trapp was quickly off his line to eliminate the danger.

Di Maria was handed a carbon copy of his chance in the opening half courtesy of Marco Verratti's defence-splitting pass on the hour mark, but again the former Manchester United man sent his effort wide of goal.

Shakhtar began to threaten as the game wore on, chiefly through Alex Teixeira who forced a low save from Trapp and then flicked an effort against the crossbar inside the final 12 minutes, but the French champions wrapped the result up when Srna turned Zlatan Ibrahimovic's shot past Pyatov in injury time.

The result means that Paris Saint-Germain remain in second place in Group A, level with leaders Real Madrid with six points from their opening two games.
