Sports Mole previews Saturday's League One clash between Peterborough United and Wrexham, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Peterborough United will attempt to claim a third consecutive victory when they welcome Wrexham to the Weston Homes Stadium for Saturday's League One contest.

Meanwhile, the visitors will have the opportunity to record back-to-back victories after beating Reading last weekend.

After losing in the semi-final of the playoffs last season, Peterborough went on to experience a disappointing start to the new campaign, losing 2-0 to Huddersfield Town and Oxford United in the league and EFL Cup respectively.

However, they have managed to produce a positive response in their last two matches, having got their season up and running with consecutive away victories.

They recorded a dominant 4-1 win over Shrewsbury Town before they edged out Exeter City in their most recent outing, coming from behind to claim a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Malik Mothersille and Emmanuel Fernandez.

Posh will now return to the home comforts of the Weston Homes Stadium for their first meeting with Wrexham since February 2008.

Peterborough may be able to take confidence from the fact that they have avoided defeat in their last 10 head-to-head matches.

Wrexham have made a promising start to the 2024-25 season, having lost just one of their opening four matches, with that sole defeat taking place against Sheffield United in the EFL Cup.

As a result, Phil Parkinson's side are yet to taste defeat in League One this season, having taken seven points from their opening three league games.

They beat Wycombe Wanderers and drew with Bolton Wanderers, before they cruised to a 3-0 victory in their most recent outing against Reading thanks to goals from Ollie Palmer, Elliott Lee and Andy Cannon.

After recording back-to-back clean sheets, Wrexham will be looking to produce another strong defensive display in a tricky game against a Peterborough side who have scored seven goals in three league games.

Wrexham will also be hoping to beat Peterborough for the first time since recording a 2-0 home win in December 2003.

Team News

The hosts are expected to be without the services of defender Rio Adebisi and midfielder Ryan De Havilland due to injury.

Mahamadou Susoho sustained a muscle injury ahead of the EFL Cup game against Oxford and subsequently returned to his parent club Manchester City to undergo treatment.

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson could be tempted to select the same lineup that started the narrow win over Exeter.

As for the visitors, midfielder George Evans is set to miss a second consecutive game with a groin injury that he picked up in training.

Ollie Rathbone missed the win over Reading with a foot problem, but Parkinson is hopeful that he will be available to feature in Saturday's matchday squad.

Paul Mullin made his return from injury as a substitute last weekend, and he will look to get more minutes off the bench in a bid to build up his match sharpness.

Peterborough United possible starting lineup:
Steer; Curtis, Fernandez, Wallin, Sparkes; Kyprianou, Collins; Poku, Randall, Odoh; Mothersille

Wrexham possible starting lineup:
Okonkwo; Barnett, Cleworth, O'Connell, O'Connor, McClean; Cannon, Dobson, Lee; Marriott, Palmer

We say: Peterborough United 2-2 Wrexham

Peterborough will be full of confidence after recording back-to-back victories, but we think that they will have to be content with a point when they face a Wrexham side who have made an unbeaten start to the League One season.
