David Edwards targets new Wolverhampton Wanderers contract

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder David Edwards reveals that he hopes to extend his contract at Molineux past the end of the season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder David Edwards has admitted that he hopes to impress head coach Kenny Jackett during the remainder of the season.

Edwards's contract at Molineux expires at the end of this campaign, and after playing 90 minutes for the first time in eight months during the club's FA Cup draw at Oldham Athletic, the Welsh international has revealed that he wants to remain at the club.

The 27-year-old told the Express & Star: "I enjoy it here so hopefully if I can get myself in the team, I can impress the gaffer and earn another one.

"But first, it's about trying to play regularly again to show what I can do. I feel that I can make an impact if given the chance.

"Hopefully I can do enough to show my future lies at Wolves but we'll wait and see."

Edwards has made 149 appearances for Wolves since joining from Luton Town in 2008.
