West Bromwich Albion "not looking to sell anyone" this summer

West Bromwich Albion stress that they will not be selling Derby County target George Thorne or any other valued member of their squad this summer.

West Bromwich Albion have stressed that they will not entertain the thought of selling George Thorne or any other valued members of their squad.

Thorne, 21, is expected to play a significant role at The Hawthorns this season after impressing during a loan spell at Championship playoff finalists Derby County.

Derby still retain an interest in signing the midfielder on a permanent basis, but the Baggies have made it clear that Thorne will not be leaving during a summer in which the focus will be on bringing in players to improve the current squad.

"George has progressed through the Academy into the first-team squad and we have high hopes for him," said technical director Terry Burton in a statement.

"He underlined his potential while on loan at Derby and we have no intentions of selling him. We have told Derby he is not for sale and that is the end of the matter as far as we're concerned.

"The same goes for all of our players. We are not looking to sell anyone. Our only aim is to strengthen our squad this summer - not weaken it."

Newly-promoted Burnley are believed to have made an offer for West Brom defender Craig Dawson.
