Joleon Lescott: 'Players must take responsibility for poor form'

Joleon Lescott urges the West Bromwich Albion players to take the blame for the team's recent poor form.

Joleon Lescott has claimed that the West Bromwich Albion players, rather than Alan Irvine, must accept full responsibility for their recent poor form.

Four successive defeats have seen Irvine come in for criticism, but Lescott believes that the squad must be honest about their performances if they are to steer away from the relegation zone.

"We need to look at ourselves and realise what's at stake," the Baggies defender told reporters. "We're not going to add any pressure to the manager, we want to win as much as he does, him more so probably.

"The manager of any team tends to get the stick, but it's the players who need to look at themselves and we need to realise what we're doing may be okay, but it's not good enough, we're not winning games and not picking up any points.

"It's not the end of the world. We're in December, we've lost four games and that's disappointing, but we're still outside the relegation zone and that's the key."

Irvine's side, who are currently 16th, travel to the KC Stadium to meet Hull City on Saturday afternoon.
