Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey tips Wales for Euro 2016 shock

Wayne Hennessey can see no reason why Wales cannot pull off some serious scalps at Euro 2016.

Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has claimed that he and his Wales teammates have the capacity to be the surprise package at Euro 2016 next summer.

Chris Coleman led the Welsh to a first major tournament for 58 years after they finished second in Group B, two points behind a star-studded Belgium team.

They have climbed up to eighth in the FIFA rankings as a result of their qualification heroics, and Hennessey can see no reason why Wales cannot continue to defy expectations in France.

"Hopefully we can surprise a few people," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"If we play like we can we will do well. We'll probably be written off but that's a challenge for us and we have what it takes to prove people wrong.

"We've shown we can keep clean sheets and that can take you a long way in tournament football. I'll take the clean sheets and let the other boys do their thing."

Wales rounded off their campaign with a 2-0 win over Andorra in Cardiff.
