Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill admits that he would like to keep Tottenham defender Danny Rose at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has revealed that Danny Rose would like to remain at the club until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has impressed at the Stadium of Light during a loan spell from Tottenham Hotspur this season and O'Neill has admitted that he is hoping to discuss Rose's future when his parent club visits Sunderland on Saturday.

Rose told the Daily Star: "Spurs are up here this weekend and there might be a chance for some talks or at least a conversation. Danny's enjoying it immensely here and he wants to stay.

"Spurs are pretty pleased with his progress and the fact that he's playing regular football.

"But at this moment, we just have to play it by ear and enjoy having him here at Sunderland while it lasts."

Rose has made 15 Premier League appearances for Sunderland this season.
