Harry Redknapp: Jan Vertonghen deal not done yet

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp admits the club are interested in signing Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen but that the deal is far from completed.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that a deal for Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen is advancing but is far from finished.

The Belgian international, who featured against England yesterday in the 1-0 loss at Wembley, has been heavily linked with a move to White Hart Lane and Redknapp has praised the 25-year-old's versatility.

"Jan is a terrific passer and versatile too," Redknapp, 65, told The Sun.

"He can play at the heart of defence but also plays every comfortable at left-back.

"I hope a deal is done but I don't think it's quite finished yet."

Vertonghen recently suggested that a move to Spurs was close to completion.
