Mauricio Pochettino hails "amazing effort" of his players

Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino identifies the work ethic of his players on the training pitch as the reason for their excellent start to the season.

Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino believes that the effort his side are exerting on the training pitch is the reason for their good start to the season.

The Saints are currently sixth in the Premier League and have recorded victories in four of their eight games so far in the campaign, losing just once.

"From the start of the season, the team has been putting in an amazing effort," Pochettino told the Daily Echo.

"They've been having double training sessions every day and it's now, at this time of the season, that we're reaping the benefits of the effort that we put in."

Pochettino's side face Fulham in their next match in the top flight on Saturday.
