Gareth Bale "disappointed" with his missed chances as Real Madrid bow out

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale rues his missed chances as Real Madrid bowed out of the Champions League to Juventus.

Gareth Bale has admitted that his profligacy in tonight's Champions League clash with Juventus might have cost Real Madrid a place in the final.

The Blancos could only manage a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu as the reigning European champions exited the competition with a 3-2 aggregate defeat.

Bale has endured a rough couple of months in a Real shirt and missed a number of opportunities to silence his critics, with a first-half header particularly "disappointing" for the world's most expensive player.

"It was just not meant to be, but we'll go again next year," he told Sky Sports News. "We always try to score as many goals as we can, but tonight it was just not meant to be.

"I was unlucky not to grab one, unfortunately it didn't go in tonight but you move on.

"I felt the back-post header [was my best chance] but I couldn't get over the ball which was disappointing."

The Italians will face Madrid's Clasico rivals Barcelona in Berlin on June 6.
