Marius Zaliukas turns down Rangers

Rangers boss Ally McCoist admits that a move for former Hearts defender Marius Zaliukas has "gone dead".

Rangers boss Ally McCoist has admitted that it is unlikely that the club will sign former Hearts defender Marius Zaliukas.

The Lithuanian, who left Tynecastle in the summer, had been training with the Scottish League One side earlier this month.

McCoist told the club's official website: "Sadly that deal has gone dead at the moment, and I think Marius has one or two other options.

"[Chief executive] Craig Mather effectively put an offer to him which wasn't met, so we're just about closing that one off at this moment in time."

Zaliukas spent seven years at Hearts.
