Chairman Tony Fernandes lauds Queens Park Rangers faithful

Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes lauds the "remarkable" fans of the club for their support despite relegation from the Premier League last season.

Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes has said that supporters of the West London side are "remarkable".

Fernandes, who has invested heavily in the club, had to deal with relegation from the Premier League last season.

However, he kept the majority of the team's key players and QPR are now setting the pace in the Championship.

Harry Redknapp's side have not conceded a goal in the last eight matches and have won seven of those.

Fernandes told the club's official website: "Every chairman will say this, but I think the QPR fans are a fairly remarkable lot.

"They were still singing my name when we were getting relegated. It was embarrassing for me! They have been a resilient lot, they have been behind the club and we have had the best ever season ticket sales after being relegated.

"They have been amazing and I owe it to them to fix this. I am thrilled for them that they have something to sing about. They are a credit to football."

Rangers are second behind Burnley on goal difference but have a game in hand on the Clarets. They next face a trip to fellow London side Millwall in 10 days' time after the international break.
