Jay Bothroyd says he's ready for the "challenge" of proving his worth to Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Hughes next season.

Queens Park Rangers striker Jay Bothroyd has claimed that he welcomes the challenge of competing for a place up front in Mark Hughes's side.

The 30-year-old will have to fight it out with the likes of Bobby Zamora and Djibril Cisse as well as new summer signing Andy Johnson next season.

"It's definitely a big challenge," Bothroyd told the club's official website. "But it's all good for the squad. When you're signing players like [Johnson], all you can do is raise your game, keep working hard and stay positive."

QPR have already signed six players in this transfer window so far, with Blackburn Rovers free agent Junior Hoilett expected to be the next arrival at Loftus Road.
