Ivan Toney extends Barnsley loan stay

Newcastle United's young striker Ivan Toney agrees to extend his loan spell with League One side Barnsley until early January.

Barnsley have reached an agreement with Newcastle United regarding an extension to Ivan Toney's loan stint at Oakwell.

The striker joined the Tykes on an initial 28-day deal early last month.

However, having scored once during his six appearances since then, the 19-year-old will now remain with the League One outfit until January 9.

"I've settled in very well over the past month and I'm really enjoying my time here, so I'm really pleased to extend my stay," he told the club's official website.

"The lads and the staff are a great bunch and made me feel welcome, so it was an easy decision to make when the opportunity came along to stay at Barnsley."

Toney signed for his Premier League parent club in the summer from Northampton Town.
