Newcastle United's Papiss Cisse 'to miss rest of season with broken kneecap'

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse will reportedly face a lengthy stint on the sidelines with a broken kneecap.

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse is reportedly expected to be sidelined for the rest of the season with a broken kneecap.

The Senegal international limped off the field at St James' Park during Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Swansea City.

According to Chronicle Live, scan results have shown that Cisse has broken his kneecap, which rules him out of the Magpies' final three games and could place him on the sidelines for the start of next season.

Reports have claimed that the injury blow could hamper Newcastle's attempts to sell the out-of-form striker in the summer transfer window.

Cisse, who has two years remaining on his contract, has scored just two Premier League goals in 12 months.
