Report: Liverpool, Manchester United monitor Ivan Rakitic

Liverpool reportedly watch Sevilla skipper Ivan Rakitic in action at the weekend.

Scouts from Premier League club Liverpool were reportedly in attendance for Sevilla's 2-1 win over Villarreal at the weekend, with Ivan Rakitic the main subject of interest.

The Sevilla midfielder has scored seven league goals for the Spanish outfit this season, while he has also contributed 11 assists in an impressive start to the campaign.

The Croatian has recently hinted at a move away from the Estadio Ramon, which has promoted interest from Liverpool and rivals Manchester United.

According to El Correo Web, the former have been monitoring the playmaker's performances this season with a view to making a move in the January transfer window.

Rakitic's current deal expires in 2015, while he has a release clause in the region of £33m inserted into his contract.
