Harry Maguire opens door to Manchester United move

Leicester City's Harry Maguire - strongly linked with Manchester United in the summer - admits that 'it would be difficult' to reject a switch to a Champions League club.

Leicester City defender Harry Maguire has opened the door on a potential future move to Manchester United by admitting that 'it would be difficult' to reject a switch to a Champions League club.

Maguire emerged as a transfer target for United following an impressive 2018 World Cup with England, but Leicester ultimately refused to sell the centre-back.

The 25-year-old signed a new five-year deal with the Foxes last month, but United are still said to be interested in the former Sheffield United youngster, who has refused to rule out a move to a Champions League outfit.

"Yes, definitely it would be a difficult one [to reject a move to a 'giant' club]. I'm an ambitious player. If you're not an ambitious footballer, you're in the wrong game really," Maguire told BBC Sport.

"Everyone wants to play at the top level, everyone wants to play in the biggest tournaments in the world, so obviously the Champions League is one."

Maguire joined Leicester from Hull City in 2017 and has made 52 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes.
