Louis van Gaal: 'Finishing in top three is logical'

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal believes that his side are capable of earning a top-three finish at the end of the season.

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal believes that Ed Woodward's target of a top-three finish in the Premier League table is "logical".

The executive vice chairman is keen to see United improve on last season's seventh place, and Van Gaal, who has overseen a disappointing start to the campaign, believes that securing a Champions League place is a realistic aim.

The Dutchman told reporters: "I think it is logical perhaps because Manchester United want to be in the Champions League.

"We've spoken, about targets, a club like Manchester United has to set targets and I think within the top three is logical."

United will aim to record their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon when they host Queens Park Rangers.
