David Moyes: 'I have no plans to rest Wayne Rooney'

Manchester United manager David Moyes insists that he has no plans to rest striker Wayne Rooney.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has revealed that he has no intention of resting striker Wayne Rooney for the club's upcoming games.

Rooney has amassed 22 matches for club and country since the start of the campaign, but Moyes has insisted that the 27-year-old will only be dropped if he suffers a dip in form.

The 50-year-old told reporters: "There will be times when we do have to look after him. At the moment, he doesn't need it but I'll be looking for any signs of a dip and if I did see it, then I'd probably look to do so.

"But it doesn't need to be just now. I look at a lot of other clubs and they've played their players continuously. It's just at United here, we've got a squad, we can rotate them, we have got other options.

"So I think I'll try to just wait. If it doesn't come around, and I don't need to rest him, I won't do it."

Rooney is likely to lead United's attack against Tottenham Hotspur, with teammate Robin van Persie still a fitness doubt for the trip to White Hart Lane.
