Javier Hernandez: 'I enjoy assists as much as goals'

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez insists that he enjoys setting up goals as much as he does scoring them.

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has insisted that he enjoys making an assist as much as scoring a goal.

Despite struggling to break into the starting lineup this season, the Mexico international has still managed to score four goals in seven games.

Although he is recognised as a clinical goalscorer, the 25-year-old insists that he enjoys other areas of the game, such as setting up his teammates.

"I enjoy making a good pass or giving an assist," Hernandez told United's official website. "You have to enjoy those things as much as scoring goals. I never play just to score, I'm not upset if I haven't scored in a couple of games.

"I don't think, 'I have to score in the next one', because I know football can go like that sometimes. As long as the team is winning, that's the most important thing.

"It's part of our job as strikers to score goals, but I train and play the game to enjoy every pass, shot, movement, assist and goal. I try to experience all the things that football can give you in the same way."

Hernandez made the move to Old Trafford in 2010.
