Manchester City midfielder Javi Garcia believes that his side's victory over Newcastle United will spur them on to "chase" Manchester United.

Manchester City midfielder Javi Garcia is confident that the Premier League champions can "chase down" leaders Manchester United.

The North West outfit have slipped six points adrift of their fierce rivals in the table but following their 3-1 win over Newcastle United, Garcia believes that City can close in on the Red Devils.

"If we maintain those standards I think we can chase down Manchester United," Goal.com quotes Garcia as saying. "I don't know if it's the best half we have played, but we definitely played very well.

"If we play as well as that then we are going to be very difficult to stop. If we continue to have that attitude, we will be very hard to beat."

City host Reading at the Etihad Stadium next weekend.
