Michael Carrick insists that Manchester United are not out for revenge against Manchester City.

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has insisted that clinching the Premier League title is not a revenge mission against Manchester City.

The Red Devils are on course to secure the silverware due to their 15-point lead over their fierce rivals at the top of the table.

Despite taking a stronghold in the title race, it was a different story last season when City snatched the trophy in the dying minutes of the campaign.

"I honestly don't look at it [as revenge], I just want to see us win the trophy," Carrick told the Times of India. "It's about getting three points each time and ticking each game off.

"The objective at the start of the season was very clear - to win the league. We went very close last season and hopefully this time we'll go one step further and win the trophy.

"We are getting closer to the title all the time; every game is one game less to go and if we've won again we are happy. But we are going to celebrate or talk about it when it's done."

United take on City at Old Trafford this evening.
