Newcastle United are reportedly planning a January bid for Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott.
The 31-year-old's future at the Etihad Stadium has been in doubt this season following a limited run in the first team for the Blues.
The Magpies could now try to lure the England international to St James' Park when the transfer window opens, according to Sports Direct News - the website affiliated with the company of club owner Mike Ashley.
Manchester United are also thought to be monitoring the centre-back's transfer situation heading into the New Year.
Lescott joined City from Everton in 2009 for around £22m.
