Arthur Albiston: 'Manchester United don't need new signings"

Arthur Albiston says that Manchester United do not need Lucas Moura or Luka Modric.

Former Manchester United defender Arthur Albiston has insisted that his old club doesn't need to sign a new central midfielder.

United have been strongly linked with Tottenham Hotspur's Luka Modric, while they were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of Brazilian Lucas Moura.

However, the Scot believes that Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't need to make a flagship signing in the centre of the park.

"Unfortunately for us Darren Fletcher who played a lot of football last season is unavailable," Albiston told talkSPORT. "He's got to get his health back before he begins thinking about football.

"Anderson has been out injured and he is hopefully coming back as well. Tom Cleverley is another player, he has not played a lot of football for United but he is a high quality player.

"We're hoping that he and Anderson can have a decent run injury free and [Sir Alex Ferguson] might not need to sign that midfield player."

Albiston made over 300 appearances at left-back for United.
