Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart admits that the Premier League champions need to talk as a squad in order to save their flagging title defence.

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is adamant that his side can retain their Premier League crown despite losing further ground in the title race last weekend.

Roberto Mancini's team are nine points behind Manchester United with 13 league games left to play following Sunday's 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the Etihad.

Hart has admitted that City's situation is precarious and that he plans to speak to his teammates later this week in a bid to save their championship chase.

He told The Sun: "Of course we still feel we can do this. That's who we are and that's what we are.

"We've put ourselves in a worse position than we would like to be but that's football sometimes.

"Will we have a meeting? We talk to each other anyway. It's not like we just float along and think 'Oh my God, we're six points behind, we're nine points behind, we had better talk to each other'."

Hart is currently on international duty ahead of England's showpiece friendly with Brazil on Wednesday night.
